I figured I'd post this up for you guys, I know many of you know how to do this, but some have not ever seen what it takes to make these little bits of bling.

I’ve never done it before, looked online at the tutorials… Everyone had a different way of doing it… Everyone made it look so simple. It really can be if you do it right…

First thing you need to do is get your tools together:

Image
These are the basics... A bench vise would have been NICE!

1/2″ Wrench for small fittings
11/16″ for the Nipple
3/4″ for the collar
Utility Knife (watch those thumbs!)
Cut off wheel
Some sort of lube
Electrical tape
These are the bare essentials to get your stuff leak free!

Measure your hose, and mark where it needs to be cut. Wrap electrical tape around the hose tightly!

Then cut in a smooth quick movement. Unwrap and you should be left with this:

You should not have any frayed ends, they HURT!
Grab your fitting and take the red collar piece off

-6 AN Straight Hose End

Next fit the collar over the hose end, making sure to seat it completely. Twist it in a counterclockwise rotation, I have no idea why it works better, but it does…

Image
Insert over hose end

Once the Collar is seated all the down on the hose, you need to spray the nippled with lubercant so that it can make the install easy.

Image
Add liberal amounts of lube!

Then insert the nipple into the collar being sure to push on the hose rather then the collar. Start to tighten by hand as far as you can do.

Image
Be sure to seat the nipple into the hose and make sure the collar does not slip!

Hand tight, use wrenches… for -6 they are 11/16″ and 3/4″ Wrenches

While many use aluminum wrenches, I find that regular steel wrenches are perfectly fine.

There you go you have successfully made your first lines!

Success!

The chisel method works well (if you have one) I couldn't find one that was big enough.

Another guy I know uses sharp pruning shears. That works AWESOME.

I found that Southern Performance on Swinea in Southaven was cheaper then Jegs/Summit etc on fittings they do them for cost +10% and if you order in the AM they are there the same day. My $70 order with summit turned into a $40 order.
